Calbee Snack Salad Baked Snapea Crisps (Original Flavor) Review

By Derek Howes on Feb 3rd, 2010 in Food Reviews, Reviews | Permalink | 1 comment

I came across these awhile ago in my local health food store. Most health stores since then that I have come across now usually have these stocked. Unlike most companies nowadays that claim to have “valuable” qualities in choosing to eat (aka buy) their food, this snack food does not mention anything. The only thing remotely close to trying to “make” you buy this product is the picture on the outside…which does not look so appetizing. Continue reading…

Wild Harvest Organic Wheat Thin Crackers Review

We’ve all had Wheat Thins before I’m sure. The difference with these is that they are marketed as organic. While the original ones have 5grams of fat, these have 3.5g.  The Wild Harvest version is also a bit lower in sodium.

Jones Dairy Farm Canadian Bacon Review

On my quest to try more bacon, I purchased a package of Jones Dairy Farm Canadian Bacon yesterday while at Stop and Shop. If you recall, I previously reviewed Oscar Mayer Canadian Bacon and loved it. So, how does this bacon compare to Oscar Mayer’s?

Quite good, actually. In fact, I prefer this bacon over Oscar Mayer’s. It has a stronger, more flavorful “bacon” taste to it, and the actual size of the bacon seems to be slightly bigger than Oscar Mayer’s as well.

Last week I decided to purchase a box of Jimmy Dean Fully Cooked Sausage Patties. While the sausage patties lived up to their taste, a number of things made me question whether or not I would buy them again.

Oscar Mayer Canadian Bacon Review

I picked up a package of Oscar Mayer Canadian Bacon this week to try out on my egg sandwich (made using the Back to Basics Egg & Muffin Toaster that I reviewed earlier this month). This was my first time trying Canadian Bacon.

I chose this bacon because 1) it was the only available pre-cooked bacon at my grocery store and 2) it was the only bacon I could find in round form which would sit perfectly on top of my egg. I have to say – it tastes pretty good. It definitely has a different taste compared to “normal” bacon.

A lot of people seem to be in a rush these days, or do not have any patience for cooking…I am one of them. Brown rice usually takes awhile to cook and you end up having to clean up, so I figured why not look for an alternative. Everything seems to have one nowadays. What I found was microwavable Uncle Ben’s Whole Grain Brown Rice. It comes in a variety of flavors, I bought one of them to try. I mean who can complain about a 90-second-to-make brown rice with no clean up? You simply tear the top, no water needs to be added, and throw it in the microwave. I had to try it.

Skippy Natural Creamy Peanut Butter Review

I came across this stuff when looking for the cheapest possible “natural” peanut butter. The thing that caught my eye was the “NO NEED TO STIR” part of the logo. I was sold. As soon I got home I popped the lid open and had some. First impression was something like “what’s the difference?”. I could not tell the difference between regular skippy and this natural skippy. It really is great. If you want natural peanut butter for half the cost and half the hassle (no need to stir) get some of this ASAP.
