Detour Caramel Peanut Whey Protein Bar Review

Submitted by on February 22, 2012 – 1:39 pmNo Comment

Received a box of these a few weeks ago and just finished my last one today. Lets find out if the mouth-watering picture on the outside matches the ingredients and taste on the inside!

First of we’ll look at the macros/ingredients. For the most part everything is good. I especially like:

  • No Trans Fats
  • No High Fructose Corn Syrup
  • Has BCAAs (branched chain amino acids)
  • Low in Sugar (sugar alcohols are fine in moderation)
  • High in Protein

So as you can see – the ingredient list is fairly solid/straight forward. A bit on the high end in sodium but we have to remember it’s a 350 calorie bar with 30g of protein (most are half this size).

As far as the taste goes…I would say it tastes like a cross between a Snickers bar and Reeses cup. So if you like either of those (or both combined) you will love this. It wasn’t dry/chalky at all. I personally thought it was one of the better bars that I’ve ever had and most likely why I ate one a day until the box was gone.

You can find these bars at most stores such as 7/11, Albertsons, Vitamin Shoppe/World, GNC, Rite Aid, Costco, CVS, and many more locations!

You can also purchase these on their main site http://shop.detourbar.com

Overall:

  • Taste: 10/10 (Identical to any great candy bar I’ve ever had)
  • Cost: 7/10 ($2-3+ for the larger size pictured here. About the same as any other protein bar)
  • Healthiness: 8/10 (really good – especially for the sweet tooth kick you get)

Also I feel I should state this in my reviews: I have no issue giving a company a bad review even if they do send me a product to try for free – they are NOT paying me for a positive review, these reviews all come from me with my complete honesty.
