DESIGNER WHEY Protein Blitz 60 Gram Whey Isolate Vanilla Review

Submitted by on March 13, 2010 – 5:50 pmNo Comment

I recently reviewed the Chocolate version of this – now that I’ve finished the Vanilla I’m going to review it also. Most of this review will contain the same information as the Chocolate review – the difference being that I will review the taste of the Vanilla as opposed to the Chocolate.

Like I said in my previous review I’ve always been somewhat of a fan of Designer Whey products. They are usually always priced great and have a huge product line of innovative supplements. I was happy to be able to try this new Protein Blitz formula out.

When you first open it (it only comes in 2lb containers right now) it smells exactly like it should – Vanilla. The scoop inside the container is big and easy to find. Most companies don’t give you a scoop that gives you an accurate measure on the serving. I decided to try out Designer Whey’s scoop and see if it was accurate. The serving calls for 75grams (2 scoops). I broke out my scale and put in 2 level scoops – right on the money at 75 grams.

Now with a product that’s low in fat and carbs while being extremely high in protein you have to think it’s not going to be the best tasting. Well I tried this protein in both water and milk. The verdict? The best Vanilla whey protein powder I’ve ever had. I’m usually not a big fan of Vanilla powders but this one I had no trouble drinking daily. It’s great with water and even better with milk. I still like Chocolate better but for Vanilla lovers – this is one of the best in terms of taste and overall nutrition.

The nutrition and ingredient list both speak for themselves:

The only thing I would possibly change on this product is to offer it in bigger sizes – which they most likely will in the future since it just came out. I would also get rid of the sucralose (not a fan).

You might think the price point on this product should be lower (around $35 for 12 servings). But the thing you have to realize is what you get per serving. This comes out to around $3/serving for 60grams of protein with little to no carbs and fat – if you compare that to almost every other 2lb container out there, this is going to come out cheaper per 60grams of protein.

I would definitely recommend this protein

Overall:

  • Taste: 9/10 (my favorite vanilla whey yet but not perfect)
  • Cost: 8/10 (priced good in my opinion – will be even better once a bigger version comes out)
  • Healthiness: 9/10 (for what you get it’s up there with the best)
