Clif Shot Bloks Lemon-Lime, Strawberry, and Mountain Berry Review

Submitted by on March 12, 2010 – 3:59 pmNo Comment

I got the opportunity to review these Shot Bloks this past weekend. Basically what they are is the latest nutrition option for endurance athletes. Bloks come in chewable, 33 calorie cubes, making it easy to customize and track caloric and electrolyte intake during long outings and races. The chews are a semi-solid, easily chewable source of carbohydrates—your body’s preferred source of fuel during activity—and electrolytes.

They come in various flavors with options (some even come high in sodium and/or caffeine depending on your needs). The ones I am reviewing are the normal ones that are just a source of carbs/electrolytes while working out.

Lemon-Lime flavor was delicious. For the amount that you get for 100 calories you leave completely satisfied. They are very chewy and similar to a gummy bear.

My favorite flavor out of the three. This one was great. Tasted just like Strawberry fruit snacks.

Again another hit. All of these flavors tasted great and similar to any fruit snacks/gummy bears I have ever had.

Nutritionally for what they are, they are great. They are a quick source of carbs/electrolytes while endurance training and they taste great at that! I would definitely recommend these to any endurance athlete looking for a quick carb source.

Overall:

  • Taste: 10/10 (exactly like gummy bears)
  • Cost: 7/10 ($1.49+ – which isn’t a bad price point. I’d like to see them drop it to $1)
  • Healthiness: 9/10 (great)
