PureFit Nutrition Bars Review

Submitted by on February 23, 2010 – 6:44 pmNo Comment

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a sample pack of PureFit Nutrition Bars this past week. They’ve received a lot of praise and are probably the most nutritious bars I’ve ever seen…but this begs to ask the question “Do they taste good since they are so nutritious?”. You’re about to find out.

PureFit bars offer:

  • No Wheat
  • Vegan
  • Low Glycemic
  • All Natural
  • Kosher
  • Non-Dairy
  • No Gluten
  • No Sugar Alcohol
  • No Artificial Flavors
  • No Hydrogenated Oils
  • No Trans-Fat

I must say this before I post reviews on how they tasted – that these bars are on a different level when it comes to the nutrition of them. They aren’t bars you buy for a “dessert” – simply bars that are good for a snack or replacement meal. They are what PROTEIN BARS should be. A healthy snack/replacement bar. I love the fact that PureFit focuses on carb/fat/protein splits. This is the type of bar you could eat daily and not feel guilty. I’m sure some day those “dessert” tasting bars will someday be as nutritious as these, but until then I don’t think these will be beat in terms of nutrition/taste. You’ll see why I chose to post this first before posting the reviews on taste.

The flavors in which come in the sample pack  and I’m going to review are:

Granola Crunch:

This was the first flavor I tried. The “granola” taste was definitely there. It was a bit “dry” going down but not bad at all. My 2nd favorite flavor.

Almond Crunch:

Almond crunch was enjoyable. It wasn’t chalky tasting like other “healthy” almond flavored bars at all and very tasty. Almond flavor was definitely there. Wasn’t the easiest going down but was still nothing I’d complain over.

Berry Almond Crunch:

This was identical to the Almond Crunch flavor but a bit fruitier. I enjoyed this one more than the Almond Crunch flavor. It was a bit chalky/dry tasting but not too bad. It was less dry than the Almond Crunch flavor.

Peanut Butter Crunch:

Can’t say this is the best PB flavored bar I’ve had. It was a bit bland and chalky to me. My least favorite of the bunch.

Chocolate Brownie:

I had high hopes for this one – and they were satisfied. It wasn’t the BEST Chocolate Brownie flavor I’ve ever had but it was good and because of how good the nutrition is, it definitely makes up for the bit of “chalky/dry” after taste it had. This was the best flavor of the bunch in my opinion.

So you see, the taste isn’t going to be the best on a bar as nutritious as these. Maybe there is a bar out there that tastes good and is as nutritious as these – I just haven’t found it. Would I eat these everyday? Maybe. Would I recommend these to people? Absolutely. These are marketed as nutrition bars – not “taste bars” and they do a great job at having great macros on these bars.

Overall:

  • Taste: 5/10 (Not the best tasting)
  • Cost: 8/10 (~$1.49 or so – and for what you get that’s a good price)
  • Healthiness: 10/10 (most nutritious bars I’ve ate to date)
