NeilMed NASAFLO Neti Pot Review
Now I know many of you may have not heard of the Neti Pot before even though it was on Oprah (and everyone in the world supposedly watches her show, right?). But for something that costs so little and offers so much, I had to at least give it a shot.
Here is the breakdown of what the Neti Pot claims to do:
Relieves Allergies & Sinus Symptoms
- Nasal Allergies & Dryness
- Sinus Pressure & Nasal Stuffiness
- Nasal Symptoms from Flu & Cold
- Nasal Irritation from Occupational Dust, Fumes, Animal Dander, Grass, Pollen, Smoke, & House Dust
- Post Nasal Drip & Nasal Congestion
Now for $14.99 at any local store (I got this one at Walgreens) I thought it was worth the try. You get 50 free packets with it which are easy to dispense USP Grade (99.9% Pure) and Preservative Free Sodium Chloride and Sodium Bicarbonate mixture. It is pH balanced & isotonic for maximum comfort.
If you think the packets are what are going to cost a lot in the end, you are wrong. Even after you run out of the 50 packets you get with the pot, you can buy new ones for dirt cheap.
My only complaint regarding the Neti Pot is that the instructions on how to use it could have been a little more detailed. Without properly using it you will end up getting some of the mixture in your throat which is pretty gag-inducing. Once you realize how to do it properly though the process is fairly simple and takes < 3-4 minutes.
How you use it:
- Filtered/boiled lukewarm water (8oz)
- Mix packet in Pot
- Lean forward over sink with held tilted to the side (right side for right nostril, left for left)
- Pour 4oz (or 8oz if you feel the need) in your nostril and let it drain out the other nostril
- Repeat for other side
- Clean
I have tried a lot of gimmicky products in my life and I must say that this little Neti Pot is not a gimmick, or even close to one at all. Within the first week of using it with a cold I noticed less sinus pressure, stuffiness, and dryness. I also must admit that my overall head feels a bit more “clear”. I highly recommend picking one of these up.
