Escali Primo Digital Kitchen Scale Review

Submitted by on October 14, 2009 – 11:48 amNo Comment

Something I recommend to every client I have trained is that they buy a digital a scale. The reason for this is that “eying” a serving size is usually not even close to accurate unless you have used a scale for awhile. Now there are 50,000 choices when it comes to digital scales and lots of them cost way too much for what they are.

When I was first in the market for a scale I searched for a few days and came across a $25.00 scale at Amazon.com which had great reviews AND free shipping. This was nearly $30-40 less than anything else I saw. I ended up buying it.

It came in a basic package with some instructions. The unit itself feels very sturdy. It doesn’t feel like something bought in the dollar section.

After playing with it for a few minutes you’ll realize it can reduce the weight of a plate so you can measure an it will take the plates weight into consideration. That in itself makes this thing worth way more than $25.00. Most lower end units can’t do this.

As for accuracy, this thing is spot on and fast.

Lets take in for example a normal coasters weight (the camera flash made it look like that):

Now you hit “Tare” and it will reduce the weight from the coaster:

Now for me to show you its accuracy I placed a 1 Gram Fish Oil capsule onto the coaster:

Instead of measuring it in “ounces” we can switch over to grams:

1 Gram, exactly the weight of the capsule. How much more accurate can you get?

I highly recommend this, especially for the price. I have had mine for over 2 years now with 0 problems. I think I’m still on the same batteries it came with too.

Capacity it can handle up to is around 11 LBS.

It also automatically shuts off if you leave it on.

  • Cost: 10/10 (Dominates the competition, no questions asked)
  • Ease Of Use: 10/10
  • Overall: 10+/10 (A must for everyone)
